Can we surmise the following in Google’s future, as part of a new set of “best practices”?
- Mystery smart-touch services that you didn’t order showing up on your bill
- Endless phone trees trying to get such problems resolved
- Irritating advertising involving sarcastic beavers, overpaying Norm Macdonald for voice-overs?
- When you choose another provider, a volley of direct mail and nonstop barrage of telemarketing calls, begging you to come back?
On the upside:
- Construction of large, barracks-like facilities in hundreds of cities, employing tens of thousands of people, that will someday become hip loft space when the workers become redundant?
- Friendly sponsorships of garden parties, golf tournaments, and Mike Weir’s hat?
